A Capable Counsel for the Office of Commonwealth's Attorney

Mike Hogan will bring a wealth of experience and legal expertise to the Commonwealth's Attorney office. He started his legal career in the county attorney's office as Assistant County Attorney and then served as a public defender.

He followed his public experience with a successful criminal law practice ,trying cases at the District and Circuit Court level. He's also practiced cases in both Kentucky and West Virginia Federal Courts.

This extensive criminal law experience made him well-prepared to serve as Lawrence County Attorney for the last nine years.

Since elected County Attorney in 2002, Mike Hogan has brought legal expertise and financial sensibility to the county attorney's office. Using his trial experience he has been unafraid to take cases to the jury and get convictions. He has a 100% jury trial conviction rate during his time as county attorney. He hasn't lost a trial as Lawrence County Attorney!

He's also been an able legal counsel for the Lawrence County Fiscal Court and the many public boards that he has worked for as county attorney. In three different sewage projects, Hogan was able to meet with citizens, one on one, to get voluntary easements for sewer lines. He did so without any litigation or condemnation costs.

Projects such as these have acquisition and legal costs built into the project, but in these cases --because of Hogan's effort-- the county was able to spend more money on laying water lines. Consequently, more than 25 homes were added to the project and now have sewer service.

Mike Hogan is a partner in a successful law firm with a private practice specializing in litigation, personal injury, real estate, family law, commercial transactions, and wills and estates. Hogan is the present Lawrence County Attorney and is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and West Virginia.
